On September 16th, 2004, Hurricane Ivan hit the area.  It was a category 3 storm when it made landfall.  According to the NOAA website "Ivan was the most destructive hurricane to affect this area in more than 100 years."

Overall, we were fortunate.  There were many buildings that could not be repaired.  Our reconstruction took almost a year, but we are better than when we started now.  Our unit got new bedroom furniture, carpet, cabinets, kitchen appliances, and a host of smaller things.  The building got a new, bigger pool and an improved elevator and ground floor layout.

Here are some photos of the building and the unit, post -Ivan.

Debris piles in parking lot.

Ground floor and pool washed out.  Luckily, pilings held and building was structurally sound.
